Seagulls Social Netball Competition Rules

General

All players, umpires and officials must abide by Netball Australia Code of Behaviour

All players must be 14 years or older to take the court

Seagulls Netball ask that all jewellery be removed

Players wishing to tape jewellery (studs only) do so at their own risk – in case of injury. Seagulls Netball take no responsibility.

Nails must not be taped – they are to be cut short, or gloves must be worn

Match-play

Game times will consist of:

  • 4×10 minute quarters
  • 1 min break at ¼, ½ and ¾ time
  • In the instance of a variation, the game times will be published prior to the season starting

A siren operated by the Venue Manager will keep time in a regular game.

Points for games will be awarded as follows:

  • Two (2) points for a win.
  • One (1) points for a draw
  • Nil (0) points for a loss.
  • One (1) points for a bye

If play is abandoned due to any unforeseen circumstances the following will apply:

  • If play is abandoned before ½ time points will be allocated as if a draw.
  • If play is abandoned after ½ time points will be awarded as per the score card at stoppage time.

    Wet weather

    A decision on wet weather cancellations will be made at 4pm and will be communicated to team organisers via text

    Each 10-week season will have 2 catch-up weeks in the event of rained out games.

    If games are cancelled due to extreme weather conditions, prior to commencement of the game, games will be rescheduled for a catch up week. If reschedule is not available, points will be allocated as if a draw. (i.e. one (1) point per team).

      Fees

      Seagulls Netball will set the registration fees for all players and teams prior to the commencement of the season (including grading games).

      Player and Team registration fees are non-refundable except under conditions specified by the competition manager.

      Results and Scoring

      Seagulls Netball will provide a Score board for each game. Score boards must be returned to the Venue manager at the conclusion of the last game of the night.

      A scorer is to be provided from each team

      Disputes regarding the score can be discussed with the venue manager or competitions coordinator.

      Seagulls Netball will take no responsibility for final scores if a team does not provide a scorer  and there is a dispute.

      Grading

      Grading will be done by the Seagulls Netball competition and venue managers

      The number of grading weeks will be determined by Seagulls Netball before the start of the season. No ladder points will be accumulated by teams during grading.

      Bibs

      Teams are responsible for providing their own bibs for games. However, Seagulls Netball have spare sets for teams to borrow.

      Finals

      Seagulls Netball will decide all finals dates and times.

      Extra time ***FINALS ONLY***

      In the event of a draw, there will be a 2-minute break. Then teams will play 2 X 5 minute halves (30 second interval). If scores are still level at the end of the second 5-minute half, play continues until one team has a two goal advantage.

      Player, Official and Spectator Responsibilities

      If dissatisfaction is felt with the umpiring of the game, the team captain/organiser should discuss the issue with the Venue Manager as soon as possible

      Umpires are to be treated with respect at all times and hold full authority over rulings during fixture games.
